Amber is perhaps the oldest substance used for human adornment. It is not a stone, but fossilized resin  of coniferous (cone bearing, like modern pine) trees of the oligocene epoch. It sometimes contains fragments of insects or plants that have accidentally fallen into the sticky resin millions of years ago.

Because amber, unlike gemstones, is warm to the touch it is thought to possess life. It was sacred to the worshippers of the Mother Goddess in classical times. It has strong connections with the earth and is a grounding stone for higher energies. Amberi is a powerful healer. It also cleans the environment and the chakras. It absorbs negative energies and transmutes them into positive forces. A powerful protector, it links the everyday self to the higher spiritual reality.

Amber is worn to increase strength, for business success, to stimulate the flow of money, and plays a part in attraction spells. Used in rituals to draw love, money, power and success.

A bit of powdered amber added to any incense will increase its effectiveness.
